2016
As of the 1st of June 2016, Berlin Cert Prüf- und Zertifizierstelle für Medizinprodukte GmbH (testing and certification body for medical products) is a 100% daughter of GUTcert. Thus Berlin Cert is now also part of the international network of the AFNOR Group.
2001
Founding of Berlin Cert GmbH as a corporation with the TU as a shareholder. Transfer of the Testing Agency for Medical Appliances to Berlin Cert GmbH with the use of all facilities and expertise of the Testing Agency for Orthopedic Aids.
1997
Appointment as a Testing and Certification Agency for Medical Appliances as a Notified Body according to the medical appliances directive 93/42 EEC. As well as rehabilitation aids, the testing spectrum includes almost all active and passive medical devices for diagnosis and therapy.
1980
The Testing Agency for Medical Appliances (PMG) at the TU-Berlin is founded to complement the Testing Agency for Orthopedic Aids. Its main task was the testing of medical devices according to the appliances safety directive and later according to the medical appliances regulation (MedGV).

The Testing Agency for Artificial Limbs had its name changed to Testing Agency for Orthopedic Aids (POH)
After World War 2
The work recommenced as Research Institute with Testing Agency for Artificial Limbs in rooms which were part of the Technical University. The tasks now focused on technical testing of orthopedic aids. These tests were conducted exclusively by order of the Federal Department for Work and Social Order (BMA) and were the prerequisite for the approval of aids for the assistance of war victims.
1915
Founding of the Testing Agency for Substitute Limbs at the TU-Berlin by the then professor for machine tools Prof. Dr.-Ing Schlesinger with assistance by the surgeon Prof. Dr. med. Sauerbruch. The main task at the time was the scientific testing of limb prostheses and aids as well as the preparation of evaluations.
